Little Sister Kelly is a thoughtful but soft-spoken girl who used to shrink away when teachers or other adults would speak with her. In 2019, she was matched with Big Sister Kayla after Kelly’s single mom enrolled her and reported that she has little time for her family. Mom is a field worker and attends swap meet on weekends to make ends meet. Kelly needed a better support system. She got that from her Big who worked with her on eye contact, confidence and exploring new interests like tide pooling, collecting mussels, and geocaching. Kayla is slowly helping Kelly find her voice and improve in school as a result.
