Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo County is proud to announce that Board Chair, Amity Faes, has been selected to represent the West Coast region on the Nationwide Leadership Council (NLC) of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA).
The NLC is a distinguished body of local leaders—comprising CEOs, Executive Directors, and Board Members—who work collaboratively to strengthen the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) network nationwide. The Nationwide Leadership Council serves as the link between agency affiliates and the BBBS National office. The NLC consists of 22 voting members: two affiliate board members, two affiliate executives from each of the five regions and the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America COO and CEO.
Members of the NLC play a critical role in:
● Promoting engagement and communication across local agencies, boards, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA). Encourages peer agency networks.
● Promotes agency quality, growth, and the achievement of nationwide goals.
● Recommending and implementing strategic and operational plans and program best practices.
● Excellence in Standards and Performance: Suggests and approves changes/additions to standards and process improvements; encourages fact-based decision making and performance management.
Amity’s appointment reflects her deep commitment to the BBBS mission and a proven track record of leadership, vision, and service. As Board Chair, Faes has been instrumental in advancing BBBS SLO County’s impact in the community, fostering growth, and championing accessibility and inclusion.
“Amity’s appointment to the Nationwide Leadership Council is a testament to her exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to our mission,” said Stacy Salame, Executive Director. “Her voice will bring valuable insight and a strong West Coast perspective to the national conversation on how we can best serve and empower young people across the country.”
Faes will serve a two-year term, with the opportunity for renewal, and will participate in national meetings, regional collaborations, and strategic planning efforts that shape the future of youth mentoring across the country.
