BIGS: This event is a great opportunity to raise funds for BBBS while also teaching your Little about responsibility, work and contributing to a cause. So call your Little and you can start fundraising together.
LITTLES: Call your Big and tell them, "I want to Bowl For Kids's Sake!" So get out there and ASK your friends, family, neighbors and teachers to sponsor you.
"Who do I ask for pledges?"
- We always start with those people who have sold us girl scout cookies, campfire candy, magazines, etc...
- Here are some other ideas: ask your co-worker, doctor, dentist, babysitter, hair stylist, etc...
- Ask those people who depend on you for something
- And always ask friends, acquaintances, family and neighbors
Other fundraising ideas:
- Put a pledge sheet in the coffee room at work
- Bring it up at your office staff meeting
- Post a note on your office door
- Send out an e-mail to everyone you know and see how much money you can raise
Tips for asking:
- The most effective way to ask is face-to-face. A phone call, letter or e-mail might also be successful, but whatever you do, make it personal. Plan ahead of time who you will ask.
- You have told them about how you became involved with us, why you personally care about our organization, and provided facts and testimonials about what we do and how well we do it.
- Don't fill the silence. If there is a pause after you ask, DO NOT fill it. They are likely thinking about how much to give.
- You don't have to ask for a specific amount. Ask how much they are willing to give.
- Be flexible in what you ask for. Let them know there are many options.
- Remember that you are not alone. We are here to help. Contact Lindsey or your match support specialist for more ideas or help.
All it takes is asking four people for a $20 donation to make a difference in a child's life.
