Big Brothers Big Sisters Honors Big Brother Larry Ng for National Thank Your Mentor Day
In celebration of National Thank Your Mentor day, Big Brothers Big Sisters honored mentor and Big Brother Larry Ng. Larry, four year Big Brother to Little Brother Aldo, exemplifies the words of President Obama’s Mentor Month Proclamation: “By setting a positive example and sharing their time, knowledge, and experience, mentors play an essential role in preparing our Nation's youth for a bright future.” 
Larry helps to prepare his Little for the future by sharing in healthy activities, such as cooking and cycling. Larry has taught Aldo about cycling safety and bike mechanics. Larry has helped to procure bikes for his Little, so that they can continue their healthy activity as Aldo grows. Together they explore the county, which allows Aldo to build vital developmental assets, such as making constructive use of time and connecting to community.
Larry has also empowered Aldo to support Big Brothers Big Sisters during BFKS fundraisers (coming up on March 4th).  Larry has allowed Aldo to help deliver pizzas in order to raise money so that other children can have mentors too.
Aldo’s parents say that Larry is now a member of the family. They are proud to have him as their son’s Big Brother and are amazed at the commitment level Larry has shown their son. Aldo’s mom is thrilled that Larry gets Aldo outdoors and she knows her son is safe and cared for.
The presentation took place on January 24th, 2012 at Cal Poly University’s new Recreation Center, where Larry works.  Larry was presented with a certificate of appreciation, words of thanks, balloons, and a Big Brothers Big Sisters T-shirt and mug.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo County appreciates the work that our Bigs have done with their Littles. Our Bigs have been a great asset to the families we serve, BBBS and the community.
